All Alfa's after 1992 are FWD or 4WD. The last RWD was Alfa 75 and SZ.
4WD was found on Alfa 33 P4 and Q4, 155 Q4 and 164 Q4.
Why FWD? I do not want to start a big debate, but shortly:
FWD cars are cheaper than RWD cars, FWD cars have more space, and the handling of FWD cars are more userfriendly for most normal drivers.

The FWD on Alfa 156 GTA and 147 GTA is no big problem.
I have been driving both a 156 GTA and later a 147 GTA a hole day on a racetrack together with a VW Golf R32 with 4WD.
It was not at all a problem keeping up with the Golf R32 on the track, and even the cornering speed were measured electronically to exactly the same for the two cars, but the Alfa running 178 km/h at the end of the straight and the Golf 172 km/h.
On the street you will only get traction problems with the 147/156 GTA if you are driving in a way you won't dare if a police was looking at you.
