Hmmm.... I don't think running two turbos, each with the wastegate set to open at 5psi will give you 10psi - or are you planning to somehow run them in series (one boosting the other)??? There really isn't a whole lot of space for one turbo, so is two such a good idea? |

yeah thinking about it, i changed my mind and decided to run just the one turbo!, it has been heaps hard to do the exhaust plumbing but it is done now, and tacked in place i am going to get it welded in place tomorrow!!
The reason I was going to do both turbo's because as it comes out of each side engine just mount them just after.. After thinking about it the turbo's were off a 300zx twin turbo, i had the both, garret ball bearing water cooled etc.. the 300zx is a 3000cc engine and they run it so that each turbo gets 1500cc and so on.. 1500 being the size of my engine i though 1 would be better, boost quicker etc.. btw does anyone want to buy the other turbo for AU $400!!
let me kno

What alterations did you make to the compression of the engine and what about engine management how is this achieved?? |

no alterations to motor!! i thought that cause i have to pull it apart anyway to re-build i might as well finish it off..
engine management is done through a caburettor!!! single webber su so that was pretty easy!!
i have taken it for a drive and it goes really well.. thinking of making duplicate sand selling them, that is of exhaust and intake manifold
let me know if interested

not sure, have to see how much it costs me to make!!!
but my alfa goes so hard!!! last night beat off a wrx with the ej20 motor in it. even though it was 4wd, i was able to take it off the line and all the way to 180km/h when he pulled out, i was prepared to go further!!
i rekon i can clock mine up to 360 km/h or so, because with the rev limiter off it revs way past 8k no problem, i just keeps revin' no more number on my tacho! _________________ -=alferr=-

im sorry but i seriously doubt your car will go to 360 kph just because u whacked a turbo on it...it simply doesnt have the litreage to be able to hit a top speed like that...if u can get in on camera or something then ill believe it but it seems a bit too hard for a 1.7 litre engine...
congrats on the turbo anyway sounds like u got a monster car in your hands

sorry i meant 260 km/h woops that a bit fast!!
b4 i had the turbo i could max mine at about 4000rpm in 5th gear and i could get to 220, after that there would not be enough power, but i rekon i can get it kick further to up to 260km/h..
after compression testing the engine at tdc, the compression ratio is 9.8:1 on top of which i am running 9 psi, dont ask me how or why the engine hasn't blown through the rings, or headgasket? maybe because i am using a carburettor and the pressure drop accross it is freezing it, i noticed when i started it up, there was some water on the intake which started to freeze solid like a block of ice. _________________ -=alferr=-

So id be guessing figures like 0-100km/h in low 6s? And 0-400m in low 14s? Just an estimate. _________________ 91 Alfa Romeo 33 16v * SOLD*

How did you manage to get a decent setup using a carb?? The ambient air temp will play havoc with the engine running. |

i used a draw through system, originally i was going to use a downdraft webber as my carb, then my friend sold me this carb, its a stromberg 175 sidedraft, another friend told me its a copy of an su, it has a vacuum cyliner in it, so i doesn't matter if you go full throttle, it blocks the air and moves up with vaccum, i think he said the carb came of a merc. the carb also has water veins through it so i can heat it, but is set this up with a switch so i open a gate to let it in. cause with about 3 minutes of constant accelerating full throttle it starts to freeze the petrol right up, but until then it can run.
I designed is so that the whole system was downhill so that if the petrol didn't get hot enough to vapourise it still would make it to the cylinders roughly same time as air. The carb sits about 10cm out of the bonnet though a modification i didn't want to make but it had to bo done. _________________ -=alferr=-

hopefully, sounds about right, i have also done some weight mods, it weighs some where in the 750kg range,
hope sometime i can get it on dyno, get some bhp readings, and decent tuning, cause all current tuning was done by me, road tuning. _________________ -=alferr=-
