Its like standing on a jack russel terrier, with all the stopping power of a newfoundland.
The back of all vehicles in front is a prospective crash test zone, lollipop ladies are scared. Thank god it handles, otherwise the local council would pay me for tidying up the hedges!

Can someone give me a good upgrade path for this lovely little car!!

I myself have an audi with BIG brakes on it so am spoiled, but jeez!
Thanks folks.

Hi there!

The brakes on the 33 aren't great by any means, but your case seems extreme. Surely it can't pass an MOT like this (although you've made no indication as to your location/country).

My initial reaction would be air in the brake pipes. Perhaps the rear brake compensation valve is borked. Frankly, there are too many options at the moment without a bit more information.

Have you tried taking it to a brake specialist? (NOT KWIK-GITS)

I'm jost wondering what alternative discs/calipers people have fitted to thiers, rather than staying with standard.

If you use the search facility here I think there are a number of topics relating to brake upgrades.
As Bobbber said, though, upgrades will be useless if your rear weight compensation valve isn't working as you will be braking with front wheels only.
Make sure your servo system is doing it's work and using sub standard discs and pads that are not properly bedded in will also make a huge difference.
Having said that, the P4, of all types of 33, probably needs brake upgrading the most.

They're not *that* bad though are they Paul?! Brake fade is the biggest problem IMO.

I think the initial comments point to a braking system issue rather than the standard set-up being inadequate.

Maybe there was a little exageration used there Wink

When I first bought my P4 I thought the brakes were awful until I found out that the pads were cheap and rubbish. Just changing those made a big difference.
If you can lock your wheels, they're fine.
