Right I'm going for it. I'm going to ignore my own advice and not get the car resprayed.

Over the next few weeks I'm going to try various things to make my paintwork red again and see how long each thing lasts.

This is a long overdue practical test. I don't know of any 33 with original red paintwork that's still red.

Day 1 : Bonnet. Turtle Wax shampoo wash. Clayed it. ScratchX'd it. Jof's it. Results to follow.

It's not limited to Alfas or even Italian cars. Most modern bright red cars seem to go pink after a while.

It will, of course, be a losing battle.

Some people are so bloody negative.

Our previous 33, a 'Red' J reg 1.5 i.e. was a nice mix of pink and rust by the time we sold it circa 2004ish.

I fear a different 33 would be a cheaper option than a respray!

What's next then Bob? You could end up spending a small fortune investigating all the different possibilities. It's a pity it only lasted 4 days as the bit you've done looks great.

I've got some autobalm here if you want to try that. I could send you a little to try on a patch and see how that goes?

Autobalm? I've no idea what that is... but it sounds great!

Like the product that waxes your car and makes your hands soft! Laughing

Nice one... send away...

Bob

Hi

We had some success with one of the coloured waxes. Didn't last for ever, but more than 4 days.

All the best

Keith

It's from Bilt hamber and it is great!

I'll send the directions on how to use aswell. You'll need a microfibre cloth/pad to put it on the car. The best thing I find about this stuff is that it leaves none of the white dust behind like many other polishes.

In the post mate. What I've sent doesn't look a lot but it goes a long way. There's probably enough to do all the bonnet. Happy buffing!!

Yes... I'm an old buffer this week!

Ill today though... so no progress.

Got a special brush for getting in the nooks (mostly moss removal at the moment) and it's scratched the god-damn paintwork grrr....

Thanks mate... B
