What is the sensor attached at the rear of the left cylinder bank. It's smaal rectangular sensor with one wire? The sensor is bolted to the head with one M6 screw.
Does the Motronic 4.1 support knocking sensor?

It should be engine overheating sensor that trigers red light on coolant temp gauge.

There is no knock sensor on 33 16v
There are jumper settings where you change fuel octane number and some M or L 4.1(but not ML 4.1) motronic versions installed into Opel/Vauxal Vectra/Astra/Nova had knock sensor errors so logic suggests there should there should be at least knock sensor module for
that EFI system, but I don't find nothing.

What is intresting there are a lot of cars of similar age (citroen Bx, Peugeot 405, Opel Calibra) that had same ML4.1 as AR33, but versions of that car with knock sensors had different EFI. L1.3, L1.4, L1.5...
Even 164 that needed knock sensor had different EFI.

Here is link to BOSCH EFI PDF file with apps.bosch.com.au/products/saa/efi_vehicleapplications.pdf

Hi, and thanks for the link. Very useful information especially the spare part numbrs in the and of the pdf. Do you have any idea what the numbers stand for (ML 4.1)? Alfa seems to be about only one using that particular version.

ML is for something like MoTronic Luft????

And LE is Luft something.... (luft meaning air)

You can tell immediately - my German is excellent! Laughing

Opel/Peugeot/Citroen from 1986-1998 also used ML4.1
Here are also another link with EFI/ECU part no
http://perso.orange.fr/mtsa-atp/electronique/alfa.htm
If you go to let say Opel, you'll find Ascona used ML4.1 in 88?, earlier ser number though 104.

Except version number sorry I don't have a clue what numbers stand for.
Only thing I noticed is that Ml 4.1 allways used AFM, while Jetronic 3.1 had MAP sensor.

cheers
