QV just means green cloverleaf yes? Not P4? I have a standard 16v gearbox from a K reg 33 going for £60. It was fine when it was in the car. Surely someone in Norway must have one. The shipping costs would be huge. If you're mad enough to get it I'm in the south of England, near Brighton. Mileage was about 80,000. Perhaps look around and see if someone can do you a better deal first? What happened to the old gearbox? Good luck, Paul. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

QV is not P4
Alfa 33 is a rare car in Norway, so not many gearboxes to choose from. And most of them is like mine.
The original gearbox had to much wear. From 1st to 2nd it was awful. The gearbox screeeaaaaammeeed in pain. The normal 2ndgear-problem. Synchronizing rings? or.. bad synchronized. dont remember exactly.
THen i bought a new one, that was suppose to be fine. But this also has the little problem with 2nd gear.
Is there a way to fix it?
Dont wanna go over the WHOLE gearbox, as it will be way to expensive. |

There is a knack to changing to 2nd without doing damage, but the more damaged the syncro, he harder it is to change into 2nd cleanly. Sorting out the linkage ends at the bottom of the gearstick and near the entry to the gearbox can sometimes help a bit or adding an additive to/topping up/changing the gearbox oil is another possibility, but you won't get miracles. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. so i`ll try to fix one of my gearboxes myself ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
