On boxing day, under protest,i headed down the A1 towards Stevenage,to do some "Shopping!".At about 25000-27000 rpm my engine died, totally!!,so much so i thought it was a fuel problem,Good old rac man arrives after 3 hours!,checks spark,fuel......ect.Then checks my cambelt,
And it had gone on one side Embarassed .But there was no nasty noises,at all.
So my already expensive christmas, has now got alot more Crying or Very sad
Anybody got any 16v heads,or just one even?

Hi Paul
At first I was going to make a smartarse reply like if you want to pull those revs what do you expect. Even the boxer has limits. But then I thought here is a fellow Alfisti and he is in pain Sad Sad . We feel for you brother. May your motor get well soon. Seasons best.
Eddie

Sorry, but I just had to ask.....

Was the engine really running at abnormal revs eg you changed from 5th to 2nd, or did you add an extra zero?

Good luck mate.

It's a realy sad story, but I have a question...Besides the new cambelts, don't you have to fix a hole in the floor?? I suppose you had to push the accelerator through the floor to get 25000-27000 RPM..! Very Happy Sorry, it is realy a sad story story, and I feel for you...hope your car and engine will be back on the roads soon - maybe on an airfield instead of the public roads.. Wink
