Hi bobbber
Having just put injectors into fuel rails this is what I did.
Fit injectors into rail whilst off car (mine are 180degrees to yours though i.e. connection facing in?). They do take a bit of pressure but try rolling them round or lube with a bit of petrol.
Position injectors on rail into throttle body and then bolt in place.
I have had to adjust my rails so that body injector and fuel rail hosing all line up.
Hope this helps.
Should the throttle body linkage be gold / passivated instead of silver as standard?
Your doing a fantastic job and I am taking notes on how to do it properly. The results you are getting look fantastic

PS thanks for trying out all these products so I know whats best to use and where.

Hi,

You can also use vaseline to lube the injector seals. Vaseline doesn't do any harm rubber and its is a good solution to lube rubber wherever the fit is tight.

Regards,

EDIT: I just noticed the last photos of Bobbber. Regarding the foam protection you can use the foam tubes intended for the pipes of the central heating houses use. I am sure you may have seen the copper pipes in your home covered with this material; it just helps the pipes to keep the water warm. These come in various diameters and are really cheap.

Hi

Might also be worth replacing the rubber O ring seals on the injectors to ensure that the old ones haven't swealed up.

All the best

Keith

Guys,

More photos.

Here is a restored head cover :

Some POR15'd things hanging out to dry, right hook has the oil dipstick tube, central hooks have the power steering hose clips and, Ade, the left hook has NOTHING on it :

Here is the side of the engine with the cover off (no wear here!) :

And finally, a shot with some POR15 on the crankcase :

More to follow!

Bob

Mmm that cam cover looks nice. I like to kid myself that they are very similar to Ferrari v6 Dino covers.

Keep 'em coming.

Engine was running sweet a few months ago after new head gaskets! Hope you get on okay with replacing the throttle bodies as the old ones were balanced nice.

Yeah Paul, just looking at the cams etc.. I can see that this is an engine with little wear. Looks great!

Don't worry about the throttle bodies... I'll sort that out (have flowmeter etc...)

Here's some more shots, transportation with engine crane to engine stand :

Thanks Lee... £28 from Machine Mart... Bargain of the year methinks!

Although the stock studs on the engine (used to attach the gearbox) don't actually go all the way through the stand supports. You're supposed to puts nuts on the ends to stop the engine falling off. So, it's a bit "balanced" at the moment, rather than being properly attatched.

You'd think so, wouldn't you!!! Laughing I have a wife and 18 month old to look after too! Shocked

On the way back from Chatham the M1 was a nightmare... I didn't get home until almost 9pm! At the moment I'm working on the P4 in a weekly rota. Everyday I work on it in my lunch hour, and Wednesday and Friday Mornings I start on it at 5am, have a few hours, then goto work. Then there are Wednesday evenings too (when the missus has her night out).

Also, some weekends. Well it's working out at most weekends. Anyway... I'm hoping that if it's not ready for SPA - people will see it's not because I didn't make enough effort! Laughing

Sick with jealousy.

BTW i'd recommend putting the gearbox oil in the box whilst it's still off the car. It's a real swine to get in anywhere near the full amount with the box in situe especially if the car isn't level and has the exhaust on.

Razz Or get your wife to pick up the car to 30 degrees and use the children to squirt the oil at the hole and the first to fill it is the winner and gets to sit in the front seat!!!. Laughing .

That's it folks I'm afraid. The time remaining for SPA has passed and therefore the car is going back together half restored.

I'll wring its neck around the circuit... then bring it back to the UK (hopefully! Laughing ) to finish it off.
