Hi,
got a question.
Does the S2 1.5 twin carb 33 have a rev limiter?

There seems to be a rather substantial loss of power when 5800 rpm is hit (Start of the redline)
Next question is if there is.. How do I get rid of it...

Cheers

Just found this on a link..

"The rotor arm is fitted with a spring loaded moveable contact, which acts as a centrifugally operated rev limiter."

Well that explains that.

New question is does anyone know if these are adjustable?

Cheers

Do you have a Bosch or Marelli distributor, I have Marelli distributor in my engine and the limiter cuts in about 6800rpm. It lives on the underside of the rotor arm assembly if I recall. You could possibly fit a stronger spring in it. Or remove the rev-limiter bits from the rotor arm and fit an aftermarket electronic adjustable limiter.

Thanks Spyderman

It's a marelli distributor so i'll pull it down this week and see what I can do with it.

Cheers

Icky, just one thought, if you replace the rev limiter with a standard rotor be sure to check the accuracy of your rpm meter in the dashboard. these have a tendancy to fail over the years and display less revs than the engine really does. this can lead you to over-rev quite easily if you override the limiter.

regards,
zp
